Meet The Founder

Adeline’s passion for working with youth and women began during her work at World Vision International, where she worked on linking youth with relevant opportunities. Here, she noticed a major gap: although there were various incentives to support women and youth to finish their studies, there was not much support for this demographic to get a job and leverage their knowledge, and offer little opportunities to get start-up capital.

Adeline saw this gap and wanted to find a solution. She saw many opportunities in the horticulture export market, which provides a secure and stable market, thus bringing the potential to break the poverty trap. As such, she started the business by first providing agricultural inputs to underprivileged farming communities.

DAVET came into agreement with various farmers and cooperatives whereby they offered seeds and other agri-inputs, including credits on these inputs, and then deducted that credit after receiving the produce from the cooperatives. This is what you would call a WIN-WIN situation. This model has created jobs for people in rural areas, generated extra revenue and value creation, and allowed farmers to expand and grow.

Behind the Name

DAVET

DAVET stands for the name of each child of Adeline. A nod to the company’s overarching mission to provide opportunities and improved livelihoods to youth and women in the country.

OUR BUSINESS

DAVET produces fruits and vegetables in Rwanda—the land of a thousand hills. Since 2015, we have worked with several NGOs in Bugesera, focusing on training farmers on good horticultural farming practices.

OUR FARM

We currently have four farm sites in Bugesera, three of which are cooperatives and one owned by DAVET. We also have three farms in Kamonyi, one of which is owned by DAVET, one out- grower farm, and one cooperative. Together, our farm hectarage totals more than 43 hectares.

What Our Students Say

Everything Concerning Our Support and Contribution

Technical Capacity

Our experienced and skilled agronomists coach and conduct daily follow-ups with our cooperative farms, teaching them everything from land preparation to post-harvest handling.

Financial Capacity

We also provide agro-inputs to cooperatives, allowing them to pay back after selling their harvests. This creates opportunities for farmers with little to no capital to develop their operations.

Managerial Capacity

Through the daily farm monitoring, we support cooperative leadership with all necessary advice and practices which their members need to adhere to to ensure quality and quantity harvests.

Market Linkage

We buy produce from the various cooperatives and sell them to various buyers in regional and international markets, creating opportunities for growth and improving livelihoods.
