Meet The Founder
Adeline’s passion for working with youth and women began during her work at World Vision International, where she worked on linking youth with relevant opportunities. Here, she noticed a major gap: although there were various incentives to support women and youth to finish their studies, there was not much support for this demographic to get a job and leverage their knowledge, and offer little opportunities to get start-up capital.
Adeline saw this gap and wanted to find a solution. She saw many opportunities in the horticulture export market, which provides a secure and stable market, thus bringing the potential to break the poverty trap. As such, she started the business by first providing agricultural inputs to underprivileged farming communities.
DAVET came into agreement with various farmers and cooperatives whereby they offered seeds and other agri-inputs, including credits on these inputs, and then deducted that credit after receiving the produce from the cooperatives. This is what you would call a WIN-WIN situation. This model has created jobs for people in rural areas, generated extra revenue and value creation, and allowed farmers to expand and grow.
